I have the cabelas trail tamer by warn. It was inexpensive. I used it last winter without any issues. Before I purchased that I was looking at the plows at rocky mountain atv .com. they looked pretty good.
I have a Cycle Country plow on our Grizzly. I've also had them on other machines as well. They are a good plow. However, on my Grizz the winch is mounted so low that it often wants to pull into the quad instead of up. Last year we snapped the cable three times before I fashioned a pulley system that re-routes the cable up to the pulley then down to the plow. It's crude but seems to work. Either way, a snow plow beats the stuffing out of a shovel! Good luck.

My neighbor has a Polaris 325 and a 48 inch plow, and I only had to take the Farmall over there once last year to help him out. My farmall is a Super A or 130 depending on who you talk to, not a cub, and Ill tell you what I love seat time on that thing, but he was having a blast on his quad pushing that snow. Manual lift but he never spilled a single Manhattan the whole time!!!! If I didnt have the tractor I would have the Cycle country 60" state plow for my Brute Force 750

the only problem with a center mount plow is you either have to take the bracket off every spring, or beat the bracket up on every rock and log you hit all summer. the pro-vantage (i think) mounts that mount higher in the front are nice since you can leave them on all year with no issues. like someone else mentioned, the Grizzly winch mounts are low in the chassis which makes it hard on the cable with repeated lifting. many guys have made up some sort of pulley system from the rack to allow the winch to lift the plow up, rather than back when you want the blade lifted. take a look here for some ideas..... http://grizzlyriders.com/forums/general-discussion/3983-5-hrs-new-winch-cable-broke.html

I know the cycle country plow I would get for my Brute is pretty easily removed. Might take about 20 minutes in the spring and another 20 in the fall to re-attach. I guess it comes down to how much you like tinkering, the on eon the Tractor takes about an hour, but I like tinkering!!!!

my actual plow drops in just a few seconds. pull 2 pins and unhook the winch cable, it's the mount for it underneath that is a pain. i have full aluminum skids and i have to remove my center skid to attach the mount. i also have to unbolt my floorboard mounts and replace with longer bolts. it's not really hard as much as it is annoying. i know alot of guys who won't go riding in the winter because they don't want to damage their plow mount. i usually use a truck (it's warmer in there!) but if the truck goes down, i'll throw the blade on the Grizz.
i have looked at the front mount plows too but they are pretty pricey and i think i couldnt find one for my quad yet most likely wont do anything in the near future antway

i can't post pics, but here is a link to Butch's garage. his 450 has the front mount plow set-up Butch's Garage i bought my plow when the local Can-Am dealer went under. they had an auction and sold 15 brand new, in the boxes, with the tubes plows for $45. it turns out that the OEM BRP plows are identical to Moose and some others and i was able to buy an OEM yamaha plow mount for $70. keep your eye on auctions, ebay and craigslist. even if you only find a blade and push tubes, you can always pick up a new mount.
Hammer has a point if you have the aftermarket skid plates. Otherwise, the plow can be attached rather quickly once the mounting plate has been installed. I'd guess that it takes me about ten minutes tops, that's with lining it up and stuff, taking my good old time. I have two plows and stand them on end to save garage space throughout the summer. If your looking into a plow because of tiring of the shovel, I'd recommend that you keep researching them. It's actually fun enough that I often plow several of the neighbors out and I know that they appreciate it.

i don't have to many issues with my cycle co. mount under my polaris 500 sportsman. hasn't got hung up yet. the manual lift on mine is faster up and down than using my winch and cable doesn't get all tangled up. just my preference.
My other plow is on my Sportsman and it hasn't presented any issues on that machine either. It might be a manufacturing issue as I'm sure the mounting plates probably differ from one brand to the other.

Go with the Cycle Country State Blade. The angle really helps, especially for the mid size wheelers. I had one on the Big Bear when I had it and that thing was awesome.

I definitely agree on the manual lift. From speaking to people once you get a real feel for the winch, your ok, but it is slower, and if you mess up and hold it in the up position too long you bend or break something. The only downfall to the manual is when your in tight areas and you have to do a lot of up and down, then it gets busy, but I think I would still prefer it to the winch.

what about the front mount style? im pretty sure im geting a cycle country 48 or 54 straight plow the state on is cool but ill have to go in diff directions so its not feasable plus im now poor for the next 3.5 years (quad payment) its going to take a while to save up for it too. still looking for a shed so i can keep it at my house also... more $$$ it never ends....

Here is the Moose "County" plow on my Grizzly 550. I originally wanted a straight plow...but the dealer was out of stock...so I settled on the county style...since the purchase, I have upgraded to a synthetic rope/aluminum hawse fairlead head, and plow guide(s) It is a front mount system...with the availability to swivel side to side, quick attach...works great...Kurt
Keep in mind, that if your plowing a paved area, A 48" blade set at an angle will be somewhat narrower in width. I plow lots of local driveways and personally I have a 60" on a Polaris 500 and a 54" on a grizzly 350. Both quads plow with ease and rarely have I had snow build up to the point of it stopping the machine.Don't be afraid of the 54" blade, it will be somewhat faster with the added width equalling less passes.(the 60" would work too) Our Grizzly is kept at my elderly parents home and used in that area for snow removal. We plow everything, even drive through the yard to the chicken coop and out buildings. My 80 year old Mother appreciates it greatly. Plus, it's actually fun, which is the reason that I plow everyone elses driveways too. If your plowing gravel, perhaps someone else on here has an opinion on that and would be helpful in sharing that experience. Either way, good luck and let us know what you end up with.

thanks! i have been thinking about the 54inch but also the 48 but i wasnt sure how much length you lose when its angled my bike is about 40/42 wide what i would be doing is sidewalks and a alley maybe tidying the street too i found a 48cycle country for 319 shipped i think the 54 is 50$ more most likely worth it have been eyeing up the used market too
one thing to remember is on mine i have a 48" my sidewalk is only 48 wide .and off the sides the grass or other objects get in the way. so choose the biggest that will fit angled or straight.
WHFR is absolutely correct on that point. A plow can dig up some sod if your not careful. If you can, stop by a dealer and ask them about the change in width when the plow is angled. I'd tell you myself but currently both plows are off so I'm not any help there. Also, I have a Pure Polaris and a Cycle Country, they both mount and dismount very easily. I'd guess that it can be done in less than 5 minutes either way.

One other thing, make sure that the mounting plate is included in the price. Sometimes they like to double dip you on both and they want you to order them serperately.

I plow our grassy areas, and a gravel driveway, and you do move some gravel around, but if you try to keep it all in the same spots its not too bad to rake in the spring or Jan thaw. Just watch where the driveway meets blacktop, sometimes the blade wont drop and you end up eating the front rack!

500.00 that's about right...remember they take trade in's
I traded in a tracked snow blower...having the plow on the quad...is so much nicer indeed...then you need heated hand grips...and a thumb warmer...then you are "golden"

any idea how wide the path is on a 48inch with it angled? apparently cycle country has 2 angled positions to each side the guy at the dealership said id clear it but hes trying to sell them. he didnt know the path. my width is about 40inches

I got a 60 inch cycle country state plow and angled its about half the width of a driveway. LOL!! And for SH!TS AND GIGGLES here's a vid from last winter of me plowing! BAH HA HA HA HA!!!
i just didnt want to get a 48in and end up plowing a narrower path than the atv. id rather get the smaller as it would be easier to manuver on sidewalks i live in the city quad is about 40in wide cernics quoted me $340 48in center mount complete system(cycle co) about $50 more for 54in ebensburg yamaha is $400 for 48in/$420 for 55in complete system (moose)
Any input on american mfg. eagle plow? i found a 55 in front mount for $440 any input is awesome cernics raised the price on the cycle country 48in mid mount i was going to get its now $400 for 40 more i can get a front mount
Eagle had cracking issues a couple years ago , but I believe they strenthened the frames and corrected the problems since then . I agree with the front mount . Much easier On/Off and nothing hanging undernieth ...
60 inch Moose plow with bottom mount, two pins hook up winch and I'm plowing nota big deal. I do remove the mount for summer though. The Moose plow does have two left and right angle positions.
thanks guys! i bought a american mfg. eagle plow front mount 54in easy install too so far so good. My only issue is the arms hang down when the plow is up but this is the first one ive ever had so the others might be the same they scrape when i go off the curb or at lower parts otherwise its awesome i wish my quad had preloads too this sucker is heavy
