SSRT members just looking for more info, i was on the website and looking at the speed restrictions.

Am i right that in the open area you guys have a speed restriction of 20 mph??

Just looking for some new places to ride but i like moving along at a pretty good clip. Just not sure if this would be a place for me, the high bridge is wild though

If you want to ride fast or slow then the place for you to check out is RAC.land. READING ANTHRACITE COAL there land is mostly in the pottsville and stclair area. For a 100.00 bucks a year you can ride there all you want 365 days a year. it has so much to offer from coal roads to tight trails to mud bogs to hill climbs. More land to ride there then anywhere else.

I'm a member at SSRT, DUDE don't you ride a sport quad? Is this the rule you read on the website? LOL!! 7. "Slow Speed Zone (5 miles per hour) are designated in the following locations: All bridges, tunnel, residential areas near Clarence Archery Shop through Number 10, Gillentown. Speeds should not exceed 20 miles per hour in all other areas." 400ex's don't have a speedometer do they? LOL!!! How DO YOU know how fast you were going. LOL!!!! Yo you gota watch for staties with there radar guns when cruis'n the trails. LOL!!! I got nailed once with that darn vascar stuff once up there (NO I DIDN'T). LOL!! I think the speed restriction is in place in hopes that you will ride responsibly. If you can't ride responsibly go ride RAC. LOL!!! I mean realy do you plan on passing people at 60mph's on the trail. I have opened my Cat up to 63mphs up there before, but there was nobody but me on that stretch of trail. If you ever plan on going you let me know I'll meet you up there and show you around. LOL!!! Hey they got a pigroast up there this weekend. If you want you could link up with njkawi and the atvzone crew who will be riding up there this saturday. I might go, just not sure if mine will be fixed by then. LOL!!

Just looking for some info, wasn't sure how strict they were on the speed restrcitions.

What is responsible to me and what is to some group leaders might be two different things.

Thanks for the offer on this weekend though

Rac Land is mostly coal dust you suck in, ssrt is dirt, you decide what you want to breith. Ssrt has more scenery i will say that and smoother trails.

OK Guys SSRT or RAC?

#1

#2

I like both but to say RAC is all coal dust is not true.

Hopefully I will be up SSRT for the Pig Roast. The only speed zones I obey are the ones near the houses or quiet zones. We have to do our part to keep these trails open.

Well the first one looks like rac and the 2nd maybe ssrt Who knows. everybody has the one that they like best. Just ssrt is too far for me to do more than a few times a year. And who is this njkawi guy any way looks like someone that is trying to hide. We all know that you are JEEP98 PLAY DATE.

Top Pic is RAC and bottom is SSRT. Both RAC and SSRT have great views, but I will admit SSRT has more views to see, but it is a much bigger place. RAC about 20,000 acres and SSRT is close to 100,000 acres (if you include sproul state forest).

For Me RAC is the best, it's less than half the distance away and as long as you don't get lost and end up on water authority property you don't have to worry about looking over your shoulder. SSRT has alot more areas to ride, but it is ride at your own risk, those darn Rangers have shown up a few times, luckly they didn't do anything to us, but I've heard of others not being so lucky.

Who are these "Rangers" you speak of? I have never seen one! I saw a security guy once though, and all he asked was to see my SSRT sticker. I ride SSRT more than twice a year too, I wonder how it is I have only once been approached by a security guard in, god only knows how many years I have been riding up there. LOL!!! I know I was riding up there back in the day of paatving. LOL!!! I'm sure Rac must have some sorta security looking for violators with out permits or breaking the rules, right? I live kinda in the middle of both RAC and SSRT, the BULL CRAP thing about the DUMB RAC permit(LOL) is the fact that you have to drive to Pottsville just to get it. Oh and RAC is $100 instead of $17 at the most for SSRT for a year membership. LOL!! I guess it all depends how far you got to travel as far as your preference.

You don't know the Rangers up at Snow Shoe Yet? you need to get out more, Chris, LOL!! Ranger Harry Lords and Pat Bowes. Harry is a nice older gent. He's very helpful if you get lost or want to know about the wildlife, I always seem to run into him around the Kato steel bridge. He drive a white four door dakota, last time I saw him there were no markings on his truck. I forget what Pat Bowes drives some tpye of white SUV, (a jeep I think). I see one of them just about every year when we are up there. Keep your eye open when your in the forest they are there protecting our wildlife from those outlaw off-road riders.

I haven't been up to SSRT this year yet but was very happy with all the offshoots and fun places off the beaten path up there last year. With that said though, the RAC land up Trevorton way is HUGE. I run out of gas just trying to see it all haha.

Both of those photos look like ssrt to me. I have heard from safety patrol they are going to incorporate some speed guns for on the rail bed. lot of guys flying up there and arent thinking while riding. Like chris stated act responsible and have fun. That is what ssrt is about.
