Figured a new thread was in order, since the others has last years date on it.


First weekend in feb is super bowl weekend, it makes no difference to me, (ride would be saturday anyway) but it could be another weekend. this is just the time that it is easist to plan, since there is normally snow on the ground.

Hmmm... Might lose a bunch of people if we hold it on Super Bowl Weekend...

Lets do it the weekend before, last weekend in Jan, there is noone playing that weekend...

Last weekend in January works for me. Heres hoping there is snow on the ground and and the sun in the sky!!!

ridgway county, alleghney national forest, timberline and marionville trails, yes but must be certified to ride. pa plates and ins also required, unless you state is in the mix.

Last saturday of janurary is good for me, wife should even be along again that weekend, which will put me on the outlaw, with some ice screews.

holidays, hunting season, more holidays, lots of snow, and end of january will be here. if this works out for most of the ones going, I need to get my days requests in.

I would probably be staying at camp again, and hopefully going back that night again, weather permiting.

Probably a good time to start reserving overnight stays also.

I'm planning on being there. Perfect time to get out of the house and get rid of some cabin fever.

The great thing about ANF in January the snow is usually measured in feet not inches. I'll be there. Hopefully the will cooperate and there won't be any freezing rain on the way back to camp this year.

It seems its always COLD and MISERABLE at the western end of the state! LOL!!

Anyone else gonna make this ride? Sounds like a lot going to the SSRT ride. ANF is an hour and a half from me, SSRT is about 3.

thats a long way to go to find out the snow is to deep to ride.

Yeah. I want the ANF ride badly, but the SSRT ride is only going to cost me gas and food. The trailer is 45 minutes away, I can cook, sleep, recycle my food, and all. ANF would cost me about 500 bucks. SSRT about 175.

I'll be there! Only half hour from home. I hope to make the SSRT ride too.

Am sure I am out for this one...and the next....and prob the next....shoulder getting cut early january. Shiney side up yinz!

Follow someone to break the trail, then its not bad. never been a time there that i could not go, except for running out of gas

Can someone give me all the info on this ride?Directions,cost and any other info you might find important.

Cost is 10 daily permit, 35 yearly
can get the permit at several places, including russel city store, about a mile from timberline trailhead.

place is about 10 miles north of marionville pa, in forest county and western part of elk county, near ridgway.

just hope its cold with snow, the trails are subject to close if its not.

We run all of timberline trail, all of the marionville atv trail(not the bike trail, although you can get to the motel on 66 that has trail access, think its franks)

We will park at the timberline trailhead.

Should be easly able to get 50+ miles riding.

And probably many will bring food to share in a lunch break back at the trailhead.

i may be up for a winter ride. we'll see when the time gets closer.

We can't do January 28th. That is the date of the clubs Corp. meeting. Looking at maybe second Saturday I'n February. Nothing set yet.

newbie..tried this ride a few years back,loved the 1st 30 min of the ride,but when the brand new pos polaris wouldnt start,after stopping and snapping a few pictures,thats when the fun stopped,3 hrs to get it back to the trailer..hope the new pos polaris doesnt do the same thing..been looking forwards to this ride since 2000....

Not expecting it to be open on the 28th, still calling for warmer weather for the next 2 weeks. soon as if and when it does open, i'll try to go.

Pretty sure the trails won't open till Memorial Day weekend now. I'm gonna plan on still riding the 28th. Prob hit Mines and Meadows instead if anyone wants to meet there.

Yeah, I highly doubt it will be open. I was thinking of going to Majestic instead but I will have to think about going with Chaser to Mines and Meadows now. Never been there before.

Is there a number to call to get the status of the trail (open or closed)???

Anytime Tim, it looks like the only trailhead open is Pig's Ear. I saw Chaser posted the ride has been moved to Mines & Meadows for the 28th. It's nice that it's closer, but there are so many more miles of trails @ ANF. I think I'm free this weekend, so either place is fine by me.

ANF was still closed a couple days ago when i called. going up to camp anyway, it will be interesting to see if this snow changes things

Yeah, I don't think this little bit of snow is going to change it much. It's going to be in the 40's Mon, Thur and Fri. as of now it says rain Thursday.
