Does anyone use helmet to helmet radios? I'd like to get a set for me and my son. Can't hear a word he says when in our RZR. Cardo stystems in Pittsburgh makes a set that most reviews have been good on. Anyone have a recomendation?

Thanks, my son is only eight so it's important that they be of good quality. He will soon be riding alongside me as opposed to being in my RZR. He'll stay close for a time I'm sure but the connection is important to me.

I hear ya, my daughter is 8, in addition to being voice activated there is also a push to talk button, I think as long as you ride close you will be fine, Mark

I asked the same question, but in reference to my wife and I riding in front of and behind the kids, so we'd be anywhere form 50 to 200 feet apart depending on who all was riding. If its 10 or 15 people then it couyld be 200 ft at some points. Ill find it and put a link up. The guys had some great thoughts and products.

If $$$ isn't a factor. The best set up is Rugged Radio's. But they are expensive. They are both car to car and intercom for passengers. There 50 watt so distance is no issue.

I had posted this same question a few months ago. New products come and go so I thought maybe someone had tried something new. Never hurts to repost. I've spoken to Rugged Radios and the price is something of a factor. They also made me feel like "if you agree to buy today ..." I guess that they are all salesmen. We have quads also so I need to be able to move from one to the other. I don't want a system that is perminantly set up in my RZR. It has to move with us no matter what we are riding.

Is there a reason you don't just use GMRS radios with a VOX headset ?

Our group uses Chatterboxes whcih employs GMRS and VOX. Very happy with the clarity, range and durability.

GMRS radios $100 for a Pair of higher end Motorola, or Uniden type radios. Good helmet set up, $80 made for helmets, and noise canceling (Rocketmate), plus the GMRS license($85).

Everything Ive read says the PTT button is the way to go, especially on most motorcycles or ATV's, only due to the fact that unless your spending 1200 to 1500 on the set up the VOX is just more frustrating than its worth. Thte Rocketmate has a port right at the button to unplug the wire and let it dangle or stuff it in your pocket. I will be getting this set up within the next coupl eof months, Just peace of mind if the front rider and rear rider can communicate.
