Thought I'd start this thread since there seems to be an interest in getting offroad GPS's for our machines . Thought we may be able to get a discount on a bulk order if we have enough interested members . I'm not in a hurry . I'd just like to have one before the spring riding season starts .

Just bought 1 or should I say 2 last year. Be sure if your gonna direct wire like I did to get there direct wire kit. Don't ask how I know..LOL Hence why I bought 2.

Will this nuvi record your route ?

I got a 4g memory stick for it. Agian I know nothing about these, but I hope thats what the memory stick is for. LOL!! I got no owners manual with mine, I got a set up manual. I found the owners manual on the garmin site. I need to register mine yet. Just been busy with family stuff and tinkering with the cRaZR4. Maybe Gary will chime in. I'm sure he would know.

With my Garmin Colorado the card slot is for maps. I put road maps and a bunch of topos on a card and put it in mine. I'm not sure about the Nuvi, what maps come loaded into yours, Myles? So far my Colorado has plenty of internal memory for the tracks I've recorded while on each ride. I then put them on my computer at home and combine them into the different areas I ride. Then I load them back onto my GPS as needed when I'm riding that area again and want the old tracks as guidance.

That's exactly what I'm hoping the Nuvi 500 will do .

I haven't been able to figure out uploading or downloading with this. I think it only works with the card. I've had the nuvi hooked to the puter and it doesn't show up as another device, but it says I can put photo's on it and use them as POI's. LOL!! I have been looking at the owners manual on line, I just haven't seen anything yet about saving my trips. Although it does have a backtrack feature. As far as maps I don't know, I'm so freaking green at this. LOL!! I did use it to drive to a family function yesterday and that trip is saved on there and that was before I put the card in. Again Gary is the most familiar with this thing. LOL!!

For my Colorado, I had to load the map cd onto my Computer for it to talk. Did you get a cd with the Nuvi?

Yes it can record your route and can be uploaded to your computer. Chris i have a extra hard copy of the nuvi manual. Next time your over remind me.

Found the Nuvi 500 at my local D I C K S store and was thrilled with the $164.00 price . But then when I opened it to browse the directions while eating , I find NO GPS in the box !! The manager at D I C K S was gracious enough to recredit my card , but I don't want a refund . I want my Nuvi 500 . He said he would check the other stores , so hopefully they'll have one or find the missing one from the box .

Hey 4x4 did the nuvi "BOX" you purhased have a owners manual in it. I wonder if they packed my owners manual for my nuvi in your nuvi "BOX!" LOL!!!

Took matters into my own hands and called every store till I found the Nuvi in stock . Had to drive the whole way to Monroeville , but now I'm good to go . Yes , I had them open the box before I left and drove the whole way home...

Got even more expensive when I found a Harbor Freight store next door ....
