You can do it. Use the old set up from the horn in an old Chevy (60's era) and it'll work. hen just run the tape under a cover of some sort, maybe old under armor or something.

I have the Klaw gloves form our local Sled shop. Cost me 35 bucks on sale, and as long as you hit em with water proofer once or twice a season youll stay super toasty. I have knit gloves then the Klaws, and with no hand warmers in soaking wet snow at SSRT on Halloween I was just fine. Now if I could find boots that damn good Id be set
I have a pair of Muck boots (artic cats). They are good from -40 to 60. Keep your water tight & warm up to your knees.
