OK, I'm looking for opinions. Is there any reason why someone in PA that has an RZR shouldn't consider going big with a lift kit? By big I'm talking 5 inch lift, 29 inch tires. I know that it's more popular down south and that there is big expense involved, but if you have a RZR you know exactly why I'm asking this question. I don't jump mine, I rarely get the chance to open it up to top speed and the list goes on. Sure I could trade it, for a loss, and get an XP but then I'm starting all over again with payments. I've already become "close" to every rock in western PA and I'd like to maybe sail on over them for a change. I'd appreciate any opinions that you might have.

If I was you I would contact Highlifter. They have some set ups that would fit what you want. Best advice is don't go cheap on the axels/cv joints.

Rzrdad, I just bought a RZR 800 that is widened by 2" on each side and with stiffer springs, but it is not lifted. I have zero experience with it so far, only about an hour on it since I bought it so I can't help much but I will be following this thread so I know what is in store for me... I take it that you are not happy with the clearance of the rzr.

Tim, I bought mine new in 2009 and have felt that Polaris slipped with the suspension. I love the RZR but this is my one sore spot with it. Now that I have it, I don't want to let it go, but I'd love to have more suspension. I'm really looking into jacking it up much like those that you might see down south. I want it done right so it will probably need all new a arms and axles. Just another thing to ponder while the snow is flyin'

I hear ya. I ran a yamaha wolverine for a long time before replacing it with the rzr last month. I looked at all the side by sides before ultimately choosing the rzr. My big concern was width, since I wanted to still have a class I atv in order to have access to as many trails as possible - didn't really consider the wider rzr's for that reason. I know that out west width isn't such a factor so most people run the wider machines with longer suspensions.
It's a tough call, cause if you go higher you will most certainly need to go wider as well to keep it from getting tippy. If going wider is not an issue for you then I say go for it. You own the machine, you know everything about it. I would put a good quality lift on it and have everything you want. In the end it is your machine and I say do whatever you want to-you only go around once you might as well have what you want!

Listening to you guys I feel that what you really want is to not bottom out anymore without getting to tipsy. The weakest link on a rzr is the factory springs. After less than 6 months there junk. Not a bash but a fact. For a trail rider in pa who wants to stay within 60" constrants should do several things. Racer tech 2" lift, a top shelf set of shocks Afco, exit, or similiar to choice and most of all a set of good progressive rate springs. I would recommend Makin Trax and then for a 50" remove your sway bars and for a S remove the rear sway bar. You'll love the articulation you gain and no more bottom out except for extreme rock climbing. Your handling through the rough stuff will amaze you.

Gary, I have heard that removing the sways in a standard RZR makes a big difference - glad to know that you agree. I'll really have to look into doing that. What is the downside of removing them? I'm sure Polaris put them on for some reason, and I wonder if I'll be over-stressing some other part of the suspension by removing them? Just wondering...
Thanks again!

Hey Tim. I see you already have after market springs. You should be fine with removing your sway bars. What springs do you have? For the sway bars start with just unhooking the front and see how you like it. If you do then do the back. Remember the 2" racer tech lift not only lifts but adds extra strenght to the frame. Seeing how you mentioned your 4" wider total I'm assuming your running after market wheels 4-3 offset and tires. That will also help with your stability.

Definitely had to lift mine. currently running a 2" on the front, no sway bar & trx 450 front shocks. no lift in back, w/ swaybar, yz 125 shocks. running 26.5 pitbulls, 4+3 dwt beadlocks & 1" spacer. 12" of ground clearance & 54" wide. thinking of adding highlifter wheel wells to allow for 27.5 or 28" tires. there is alot of off camber riding around here so watch how high you go without going wider. If you don't plow with your rzr you could put superatv offset a-arms on. they move your front forward 1.5", which allows for larger tires. I think you need new axles for those though, but after you add heavier larger tires you'll prob. break the stockers anyway. running gorillas all the way around now.

Blazin going with those yz shocks are a good alternative to the more expensive shocks. I hear aot of good things about that setup. And I definately like your choice in tires. I run the same size pitbull rockers. You sound like your getting your rzr set up nice. Do remember with those taller tires you should be doing a clutch set up. If you need or want any help on the clutch set up let me know.
