Just bought some parts to start a build. Anyone ever taken this task on. Doesnt seem to bad but time will tell. Bought a PSA stripped lower, DPMS lower parts kit, DPMS buffer tube kit. Still looking at the Upper assemblies. Looking for something cheap. Anyone with any experience on this?

I don't have much experience with building them, but I must say that I love my AR! I bought a Smith and Wesson M&P 15 a couple years ago. Up until a few weeks ago I kept it bone stock. A co-worker is going to start into gunsmithing school and he suggested a few additions for me. I just wish I would have added these things on sooner! The only advice (or is it a warning???) I can give you is that you will probably become an addict! They make an incredible amount of accessories for AR's and you will want more and more. Atleast that's how my friends and I have been. I can strip one down and put it back together. With as much as M-16's jam and what not, I wouldn't go cheap on nothing. But thats just me. I've put 3,000 rounds of 5.56 down range in one afternoon, but that was with a M-249 SAW. LOL!! The Army paid for the ammo. If you ever want a cleaning kit for it I have 2 or 3 new ones that I got out of some M-16 A2's. I hope someday to get one or build one, your so LUCKY!! Your gonna have so much fun when its done! LOL!!

I have an Olympia, and I love it. Cant wait to do some upgrades to it and make it nice, but seeing how inexpensive the Bushmasters have become I may just trade up a little first. If i can ever get my Oly back from my neghbor LOL

Been looking at it and I think I am gonna stick with the PSA upper as well. Looked at the DPMS but I might as well get the matching upper. 399 for the upper. My wife is gonna kill me by the time I'm done.

Hey guys i recomend the optics ready bushmaster or s%w , lots of add ons for both . I have a bushmaster and a dpms , the bushmaster is 223 and the dpms is 308. Both are great. I have the bushmaster set up for a scatter gun and the dpms as a sniper rifle w/bi-pod up front and a single pod sniper stock to make it free standing. Both calipers are very acurate and awesome!

I have never built an AR-15 before but let me tell you something, it's going to take a long time to put it all together.

In all reality its not bad. Maybe about 2 dozen parts in the lower, the upper you buy as a complete unit. It attaches quickly to the lower pins. I would say 2 hrs depending on what options you buy. Assembly isnt that hard. Just look on youtube. Pretty simple.

Actually shopping for the stuff is probably going tp be more time consuming. There are so many options out there it'll make your head spin. Its alot easier than people think it is.
