i have a 11 grizz 450 and bought a front mount plow
the weight seems to have squashed the front shocks
i drag the mount arms everytime i back up
my shocks are not adjustable
any ideas for a easy cheap fix? i was thinking about switching them out for a stiffer shock but i dont want to sacrifice in the summer time

I wonder if any Yamaha air adjusted shocks switch over to the Grizzly. I dont know for sure, but try googling that around, until someone with more grey matter can give you a better answer

This may sound Mickey Mouse , but could you get some neoprene bushings to cut open , then slide them ( 1 2 or 3 stacked ) around the shock shaft . Then secure them with hose clamps . They would act as soft bump stops to keep you from bottoming out while plowing . Just remove them to go riding .

i would just go get some square stock and drill holes on each end, remove the shocks and put this in place of shocks. then after winter put ur shocks back on.

this is all based on that you don't joy ride ur machine in the winter and just use it for plowing

Ive read many time ELKA shocks, but big bucks. On the grizzly forum it says some guys are using YFZ 450 shocks, your shocks are 14.5 inches hole to hole. Im sure htere are some air charged/adjustable shocks out there thatll fit without dropping a G-whiz on them.

Find a ATV / Motorcycle junk yard like the one we have out here. All kinds of stuff to experiment with .

That's odd, we have a 350 griz and have had no problems of that sort. Plows are heavy, I have to wonder if your brand might be much more so than most. I hope that you can find a solution quickly.

Can you modify the mount?

Sounds like your using a pickup truck plow! LOL!!

Not sure about Yamaha but polaris sells stiff rubber incerts that you put inbetween the spring coils to stiffen the from for plowing.

1.the bushings/hose clamps sound more my speed in fact its kinda what i had in the back of my mind
2.ive heard of switching out for sportsquad shocks... thought about it we have 2 atv/cycle salvage yards around here
3. thought about switching them out with a piece of wood or pipe kinda afraid i wont get them back together
4. yes my plow is pretty heavy. no, its not off a truck. i think the mounting setup and push arms complicate things.
i live in the city on a hill my issue is riding with it pulled up and dips in the sidewalk
my plow is a "american mfg. eagle plow" it can also be found on promarks website

ive also thought about a rachet strap between the a arms on the underside
pull them togeter enough so they dont go up
