If its brand new you shouldn't need to. I only have them on my older machines with steel tanks. I can see it being a prudent thing to do but I'm not sure if it will cause any issues with fuel injected models or not. More people will respond, but I dont use them.

What vehicle? Fuel injected? If it's new and fuel injected it most likely has a filter in the plastic fuel cell.

it's a honda 420 rancher fuel enjected. just wondering if it will help or not

I wouldn't. Fuel injection is designed to run on a certain pressure. Adding a fuel filter before the injector could disrupt it. There is really no need with the in tank filter and being made of plastic. Glad to see someone looking at preventative maintenance. Keep good gas in her and stabil if not running for a month an you'll be golden.

yes, FI machines are designed to run at correct fuel pressures, but a filter should not cause a pressure drop unless it is plugged. just like your car, there is a pick up screen on the pump which should filter most of the crap. however if you have had trouble with the gas from your local station you may want to put in an in line filter. another option would be to use a funnel with a filter in it. i have not put filters on any of my machines, but not because its a bad idea. i just haven't had a problem. http://www.mrfunnel.com/Mr._Funnel/Home.htmla friend of mine from near mt.pleasant uses one of these because he has had a ton of trouble with water in the gas he was getting from his local station
