i saw this earlier tonight.

i don't totally disagree with their reasoning, but that doesn't make it suck any less.

Maybe if they didn't snag up all the land...and just like the state forest trails closing for hunting season. Its BS. And stop the habitat crap. West Virginia doesn't seem to be dropping their wildlife numbers! And there is TONS of riding there!

Bureucracy at its finest...Love this state, hate its government.

Good post Hammer07 . I tried posting it last night , but apparently ranger did'nt like the site I was linking to ... more tongue

I don't live close enough to a gamelands to agree or disagree that there is a problem with OHVs . But , in tough economic times the Game Commission will try anything to increase revenue . I do know that they seem to be having trouble with vandals at thier shooting ranges . Maybe the increase in fines are going to repares ?

This is your hard earned tax dollars at work boys and girls!!! Hammer I totally disagree with everything about this. Their reasoning, the money spent to launch a chopper, the fines. Everything. Total waiste!!! These are exactly the trails that should be legal. I am getting so sick of hearing this. Out here in eastern PA they are blitzing these areas as well. Here is a thought... A number of years back when Rendel was running for his second term there was a large lobby pushing to remove the helmet law for street bikes. Now some of you may like or dislike that rule but the point is he said "If you elect me I will get rid of the helmet law" and guess what... I think it's time we figure out a way to do the same. We really need to organize as one body of OHV riders and let potential politicians know about it. There are a lot of us. At an absolute minimum state game lands should be open to ride every sunday through out the entire year as well as any day during the week when there is no hunting season at that current moment. This would actuall encourage more outdoor recreation instead of playing an ATV game on your play station. If you cant tell this really pisses me off. I am scrapping to get by and then I see money that me and everyone else here gave to the state pissed away on this crap. Sorry for the rant but there is no way anyone can spin in to make me think this is called for. Allow riding with rules and worry about enforcing the rules. How about this. Everyone on this forum shows up to 1 particular game land one saturday and we all ride it all day without stopping We can call it "Occupy PA Game Lands :-) OK I'll take a breath now :-)

The problem with State Game lands is I think it is purchased with the money "HUNTERS" spend to buy their permits. So I guess that land is set aside for the hunters and good luck trying to ride that! Why not just go after more of the state lands and not even waste your time trying to go after Game lands. I would think you would have better luck with state land. DCNR isn't the same as the Game Commission I think and my registration is through DCNR not the game commission. I don't hunt but I do like riding and I like riding the state lands that were set aside for us. I'm sure the hunters enjoy the Game Lands that were set aside for them and I'm willing to bet their lobby group is much larger than the ATV group, there's probably a lot more hunting permits sold than ATV registrations. Thats my 2 cents. LOL!!

kfp673, i agree with everything you've said, but i don't think it's the responsible riders that are the problem. people have been riding on state game lands for years with minimal trouble. the problem is that now that every kid in town has a quad or SxS and their parents haven't taught them anything about respecting other peoples property, there is a ton of vandalism and property destruction.

Cleer that article right there is what we should be fighting! This BULL $H!T that the state invests money into pay to play areas with our money is just plain BULL $H!T. The biggest reason I have a problem wasting money on gas to go to Rock Run is the fact that the state invested my registration money in that park that I have to pay to play on! We are discriminated against due to a few bad eggs. Hunters have been killing each other for years and the state does not limit where they can hunt, I mean small areas on huge plots of land. LOL!! We have to beg and get nothing but pay to play areas. This state has so much to offer as far as scenery, especially in the fall, that ATV rider would come in droves to enjoy it. Hey the baby boomers are retiring and none of them I bet want to hike to see the outdoors. Just with that more than likely we're going to see huge numbers of SxS's in the future on the trails. No offense to the seniors of this site, LOL, but this is a trend I kind of expect to see.

Myles , I believe your on the right track . We have to straighten out the DCNR writing on OUR registration money and how it can be spent . Nothing burns me more when I read the DCNR funded a hiking or biking trail to the tune of millions and WE can't use it .

There was some excellent research done by someone on here a while back about DCNR funding . What really jerked my chain was the last time OUR FUNDS were audited . Gee , I wonder why they would STOP wanting to tell where the money is going ?

The last trail I remember the DCNR funded around here was a 1 1/2 mile extention on a WALKING trail near Pittsburg to the tune of $275,000 . Said it had really nice sitting benches ..... wtf bs

OK , I'm done on the soap box ...... banghead

[BE NICE] em all. Cant we just shoot these assholes? Maybe its a little anarchist but serioulsy, why cant we all plana ride, then take like 75 bikes onto the game lands, and stage a protest. If we all bring a pistol, theres no way we will be outgunned. It really seems like that kind of thinking is the only thing that will get anything done, but if you go back and reread it its INSANE to even think. Voting doesnt work, letters to the politicians doesnt work, its all a big frigging game and we are the machine that runs it, but if we try to disrupt what the egotistical power mad politicians want then WE become criminal. Or am I just in a particularly good mood tonight? LOL
