Hi, im completely overhauling a 230 quadsport, im wondering what i can replace the rear shock and exhaust with. The stock exhaust and shock OEM new will cost me at least $800.00, not exactly in my price range. Any help would be appreciated.

I would look at aftermarket exhausts. DG makes a complete aftermarket system with header and pipe for about 150 bucks. If you go with the aftermarket system you may have to rejet the carb to get it running correctly. Not a big deal, it just takes some trial and error. If you want to stay with the stocker, check ebay. I just did a search and found quite a few stock exhausts (I was also looking at an 86 Suzuki 230, not sure what year yours is).

As for the shock, ebay is always a good place. If you want though, you can take the shock and ship it out and have it revalved. Will probably cost around 100 bucks or so. I have done it with my sleds before. If you need a place, let me know and I can get you the guy that does mine. You can also look for aftermarket. I think a few Yamaha shocks will fit as well. I believe it is either a Warrior shock or a Raptor shock will fit. Don't quote me on that though. If that is the route you want to go let me know and I can dig up the info for it.

Hey Mcfly, the 350 warrior shock i heard fits.... and thats probably the path that im going towards being that my options are pretty slim for this old sucker. The dg exhuast i looked at several times im just unsure of the quality dg has...

The aftermarket exhaust is going to probably be a better quality than the stocker. I'm not 100% on the DG stuff but I believe the head pipe is all stainless steel but I could be wrong. Look through ebay for a warrior shock and you should be set. Like I said though, if you choose to go with aftermarket exhaust (I would) make sure you do a plug chop and see if its running lean.

Yea it takes some messin around with. My quadzilla was a pain when I did it. Let me see if I can find the manual section. The most important part is to take your time. Not something you want to rush.
