OK, first off let me say thanks to everyone, especially Gary. Got the new pump in, took it for a test ride, and I couldn't remember how fast it was! It has been running so poorly for so long, I literally forgot how it was SUPPOSED to run, and now I am very happy!

Polaris sells the fuel pump assembled to the tank only, you cannot buy just the pump. They want about $600.00, plus an hour or more to install. I got the same pump from auto parts store for $71.00, fumbled with some difficult mounting bolts for a couple of days, and got it running like a very fast top again. So, this forum, and the people on it, have saved me about $600.00.

All I can say is "thanks" and promise to help others in a similar way if I can!

Wat a great forum...

Yep I think it's ridiculous companies only sell the whole assembly like that. Saab pulls the same garbage. 700 bucks for a whole unit or for about 70 some dollars you can get a drop an aftermarket replacement pump. Glad you got it fixed.

Seems kinda odd thought. I always thought fuel pumps just failed and stopped working completely.

I agree, that's why I never thought it was the pump in the first place. For a year I was working on the throttle body, ignition, plugs, the air intake, the exhaust, everything BUT the fuel pump. Gary turned me on to the pump, sure enough the pressure was a pretty static 25 PSI, should be 39.

The other thing that is strange is that the fuel pump is a pretty commoneoblem on RZRs. Mine had about 2000 miles on it, many other people I chatted with had similar mileage. However in a car or truck fuel pumps last 100000 miles or more. Weird.

Usually there will be plastic pieces in the inlet and or outlet side of a new fuel pump to prevent them from getting contaminated prior to installation. That could be what that piece was from. AT any rate, looks like you found the culprit, let us know if it doesn't fix the problem.
