DD: if any consolation...my 11 yo son is a super cautious individual. After seeing me roll it over a few times down a steep drop last year, narrowly beating death/serious injury, he's been scarred for life. He usually only feels comfortable on gentle rolling logging roads or easier skid trails. I've been trying to build his confidence by letting him lead us on trail rides of increasing difficulty. Well, last week he followed me through just about the whole course with no problems. On the sections that he was a little hesitant, I either guided/spotted for him or I lead so he could follow my lines...He kicked butt and thought it was the coolest ride ever. He rides a Grizzly 350 4x4. He only put it in 4wd for the deep mud section on the "Gardner's Bench" section of the trail.

we'll see if I can get her to go. She didn't have any trouble at LT. I know the grizz is capable. She's worried about holding up other riders.

The trails are plenty wide in most areas for a pull over or let a faster rider through...Hope to meet you there. There won't be too many speed demons hopefully. That will be stressed at the rider's meeting before everyone heads out. I'm sure Dirtfan is going to stress that it's not a race and how to be courteous to slower riders/overtaking other groups.

And I think the start will be staged a little to allow for time/distance between groups. Plus there are 2 "hero" loops right from the start as options. So hopefully the more skilled/faster groups take those options.

Thanks for mentioning that issue DD, here's my plan:

This ride is NOT A RACE. That being said, I realize everyone rides at different speeds. To accomidate that, I urge everyone to use common sense and what I call "gentleman rules". If riders come up behind you, continue at a safe speed until you find a place to pull over and let them pass. If you come up on slower riders, allow them time to acknowledge you and pull over before attempting to pass.

Also, as Steve936 mentioned, the first "hero" loop starts right out of the parking area and is more than 4 miles long before meeting back onto the easy trail. Once we start lining people up for the start, we'll make 2 lines; those starting on the easy and those starting on the hero. Then we will stagger the groups a bit to keep congestion down.

We are not speed demons either, I will usually stop to take pictures or sometimes take them on the fly. My girl Michelle can handle technical terrain but she will be a bit slow going down hills, going up, no problem. She can handle everything at Lost Trails including the boulder crawl trail. (she has not yet done trail 22, but soon driving )

Yes...on the "EASY" trail, my Rhino fits so I believe your Commander will fit.

Some of the "hero" trails may be different. But keep in mind, this was a trail used 2 weeks ago for a jeep run. So, in theory, you should be fine...

And my name is Steve too, obviously. But Dirtfan Steve is tall/thin. I'm short/sturdy...

I too am going off the air for the weekend. I hope to see many PA plates!!!

It was a great day. The weather was great. The trails were even better.

I did see a few pics being taken. Hopefully someone will be along shortly. I myself was too busy serving some chow and riding to take pics. I'd like to thank the few brave souls from this site and the others that weren't scared off and showed up. I believe they were rewarded justly. There was a bunch of hard work put in and it was nice to see some come out to enjoy it. For all those afraid by the weather reports, well shame on you. You missed an epic day.

DirtFan07 will report in shortly. He's taking a well deserved nap I'm sure...lol
