Has anyone started a riding club before?
What are the ins and outs and dos and donts?
Anyone interested in helping out, please volunteer...
I really have limited amounts of time due to launching so new sites and redesigning this one...
Any and ALL help will be appreciated...
Maybe we should elect a group of members to run it, and Crash and I would just over see, track and monitor the progress... helping with the admin side of things...
Any ideas? I currently work with a few diffrent riding clubs, some who own land and some who do not. PAOHV has alot of information for clubs just getting started. There are also so other orginizations out there who provide similar information that I can PM you details about. Some of the things you will need to think about doing are: Draft by-laws Create Waiver Forms / Membership Applications Apply for Non Profit Status / Incorporate or both. Create a Board for the Club with a prisident and officers. Hold Meetings

Not sure if i would be in the way it would seem to go here, bringing money into it could turn in the wrong direction.
My Idea is to just post a ride and show up, seems to work out that way better to me. jmo.

I agree that there needs to be a simple way to post rides and get togethers, and thats what this forum is for. If your going to start a club, and hold events, on a scale that encompasses the whole state it can be done for a short while on a volunteer basis, but when things like picnics, poker runs, fundraisers, and any kind of endorsement of an event come into play there needs to be monies to provide for insurances, printing expenses, advertising, and a host of other things. These can all come about as the organization grows, and in the best of circumstances if handled properly it could turn into club that has divisions in multiple areas of the state with one main board. Keeping it simple is the key. With a name like ATVingPA, and the passion people on this site have, I would guess that if handled correctly this could become an organization with some serious clout in the next few years. Laying out a plan, and finding the right people is key. And from what Ive seen and read on here there are plenty of you who already know each other well enough to really start making this meet the aspirations you have set for it. From my newbie, and outside point of view, you guys are off to a great start. If there is anything you guys need help with please let me know, I would enjoy being part of an organization like this.

GREAT POST ! Thanks for all of the encouragement ! Glad you are here, and thanks for both the vote of confidence and the offer to help out... The biggest thing right now is spreading the word, and getting everyone in PA to know we are here... The are some members out there who are doing a great job, and we thank everyone who is helping... It can be as easy as telling your friends about us, or putting a sticker on your truck and quads, to organizing a group ride or a group in a parade in the name of ATVingPA.com We have to concentrate on gaining new members, and keeping the post counts up so google and other search engines want to know we are here too... Thanks again! Looking forward to seeing you on the trails sometime ! Tom

Met you guys at the ANF ride and have been spreading the word ever since. Up to that point, I hadn't heard of you guys but that's how it works. Now, it's all about introducing everyone I know, and hopefully who all the riders on this site know, to this site. If you don't belong to a club and truly love the sport, get off your duff and find a local club. You have to start somewhere or watch your rights slip away. I don't think any of us like looking at our machines in the garage. The trails are the place to be and this is a great way to meet other interested riders. If you know of a ride, post it and they will come.Personally, I'm glad to be a part of this.

This sounds like a great idea and would love to be a part of the group and participate in the rides I would be "all" in on supporting this as well. If anyone attended the Fisher's reunion this past year up at RockRun...I did..there were several decent sized "groups" that came together from all over.. Please keep us posted...interesting topic Kurt

I'm definitely about a riding club. Right now myself and a few friends go out on the quads at least once a week, and I'm always looking for more adventures! I notice a lot of you are awfully far away from my hometown here in Pottsville, PA but if there are any rides out this way like RAC or around the area we would be happy to guide. Note: Navvin I see you're from PG, so any time you want to meet up we're only a stone's throw away!
PS... I'm running the Poker Run in the Events section (Llewellyn PA) coming up this July 16th, I hope to see some of you there!

Contact the ATV Safety Institute. They have a booklet called, How to start an ATV Club. I used it in 1999 to start the Valley ATV club and we are still going strong. The booklet is priceless and will guide you through every step. Hope this helps!!

I'd be interested in viewing post's that list a date / location & time. And then select the one's that work & attend. I'm hoping their might even be an interest in mid-week rides. My weekends are very busy delivering RV's & I don't often get the chance to go. However mid-week rides are great, I hardly ever run into any others on the trail (mostly DCNR ATV Trails). I usually end up going myself, which isn't the best idea - but my only choice sometimes. Maybe if not to hard, there could be a www.atvingpa.com members ride calendar that was limited to this. Agreed,
Thought it may be easier to have a separate calendar or chronological list for these member rides.
The easier it is, the more it will get used.

hello everyone, i'm fairly new here and been reading posts. This is an awesome forum with great people. This is why i love the sport, the trails, the mud, and the people you meet on the trails and in the mud,,lol.. I belong to a club and am an active member.. http://www.svtrailblazers.com/ which is a great club and i agree with having clubs to keep trails we have and to get new ones. I also put on rides in the trevorton and st. clair area and like keeping it simple as well like an earlier post. Just post a ride and who shows up, shows up. There's a website called everytrail http://www.everytrail.com/my_trips.php?user_id=175783 which is an awesome way to share gps tracks of previous rides, check out my home page and fell free to d/l any of the tracks Really looking forward to meeting and riding with you!

The ATV Safety Inst. hassome great info. on how to start an atv club. I used their info. to from a club in 1999 and our club is still going strong. We hold monthly meetings. We collect dues. We hold monthly rides. Have a annual club picnic and Christmas party. We have 4 officers who oversee all operations. If you can find a few people who are willing to devote their time to a club you will find that it will almost run itself in time. Our officers meet once a year and set up rides for the upcoming year and meeting agendas ect. We hold a raffle or 50/50 at each meeting and the proceeds go into a petty cash fund which we use to buy food for cooking on club rides. The rest of the funds go into a general fund wich support the our web site and other club expences. If your willing to put in the initial work it will pay off in no time. Plus you will meet people from all walks of life and make friendships that will last a lifetime.

The ATV Safety Inst. puts out a complete booklet on how to start an atv club. I used it back in 1999 to start our club and it served us well. We are now in our 12th year. Contact them for a cory.
