I was just going over parade paperwork and a request has been made to all parade participants. they would like us, and all parade participants to decorate their units. here is the letter...
greetings to our parade participants that will be using vehicles in the 2017 st patricks day parade;
each year the parade committee considers possible improvements to the look and feel of our parade, and this year we have a special request. we've listened to suggestions submitted to us by our committee members, parade participants, and parade spectators, who always look for ways to improve on our beloved parade.
this year, we have heard from many of our spectators that they would really like to see more parade vehicles decorated in the spirit of the day. many of our parade participants already embrace this idea enthusiastically, but some seem to bring vehicles only to provide transportation for the participants riding in or on them.
we respectfully request that this year, and in the years going forward, you please try to decorate any vehicle you plan to use in the parade lineup. this is a great day of celebration, and being invited to participate in the lineup is a tremendous honor not granted to just anyone that wants to be included. so in that spirit, we hope you will honor our patron saint Patrick, the parade committee, the parade spectators, and our irish heritage by decorating your vehicles in a respectful way, and show everyone your pride in our parade and our city.
we thank you for your cooperation,
Pittsburgh st. patricks day parade committee
