This post is long overdue.

Since I got my machine in 2008 I’ve ridden at Bloody Skillet, Whiskey Springs, Snow Shoe Rails toTrails, Potter County ATV trail, Sideling Hill, and at the Ramey Poker Run. I love to ride – plain n simple.

I really like long distance rides, especially when they go “somewhere”. For instance, of the trails listed above only SSRT allows a rider to ride directly to a restaurant, in this case Ludwig’s Sub Shop.

In the past month I heard rumors of long distance trails, or trail systems, being proposed right here in Pennsylvania. One rumor involved the possibility of connector links between SSRT, Bloody Skillet, Whiskey Springs, and Potter County ATV trail. If true this would be one heck of a ride, several hundred miles – my kind of ride.

Does anyone know the status of these rumors, or of any other similar rumors?

Does anyone have a complete map of these trails and trail-systems?

What you are looking for is found here:
Northcentral PA ATV trail initiative

Plan is to connect Bloody Skillet to Whiskey Springs, and then to Potato City in Potter County. The initial stage was from SSRT to Bloody Skillet. Supposedly the initial planning for that second stage is about 50% done at this point. I assume they will greatly benefit from a gas station near or in Renovo, as they have one tiny station now, and nobody is making that long a ride on a sport quad without a LOT of Rotopax in tow.

It could really benefit the economy of Renovo, as a LOT of businesses went under or scaled back dramatically from Whiskey Springs closing for 2+ years, but it still is not a done deal. I'm hopeful for it to eventually go through.

They are working on it slowly and surely. As of end of last summer you can now ride from the potter county trails down to crossforks and Germania to go get gas and stop at a few different places to eat

That diner, Deb's, may be a greasy spoon, but it sure does hit the spot after a full day of riding at Whiskey Springs ! drunk Last time we were there, a black bear was hanging out in the dumpster right off the parking lot.

Hopefully when completed it should be bigger than our neighbors down in W.VA. Love the though of being able to ride from the I80 corridor to above the route 6 corridor!

I like your optimism, but to compare it to Hatfield McCoy is doing it a disservice. H&M did such a great job forming one of its best natural resources, that amazing trail system, into a very profitable endeavor for anyone looking to buy into it. From the cabins positioned along the trail system, to the town of Gilbert, which is ATV road legal from end to end, to almost all of the manufacturers setting up shops in the area to sell parts to the riders - its just a well oiled machine.
The NCPAATV initiative is a start, but you then need more gas stations to sell gas to riders, cabins along the route (or more hotels offering up rooms to riders), vendors to sell you parts in case something breaks on a ride. Compare it to what New Hampshire did back in 2013 - they had 4 trail systems in the state that they managed to link together into a 1,000 mile single trail system named 'Ride the Wilds'. That is amazing, and dwarfs H&M for total trail mileage, but yet no one talks about that trail system as a ride destination.

I have hope for this one, simply because its being completed - a little bit at a time, but I sure hope it gains traction and support instead of complaints and apathy.

If your looking for high mileage ridding , check out Ride the Wilds in New Hampshire . All the town roads in coos county are open to atvs . Easy access to lodging , food , gas or whatever you need. A easy day of ridding of 150-200 miles is possible . Over 1000 miles of connecting trail system makes it my favorite place for a atv vacation.
