I need to get a good GPS for riding. I would like to be able to save rides, and be able to transfer maps to the unit form a lptop. I would also like to be able to download the trips to a card or the computer, so I dont lose them. Waterproof and easy use would be good too. I have read and read about them all on the internet, but Humans make much better sense to take advice from. I figure on spending around 4 to 5 hundred, but if there is a cheaper one you know about I'll definitely look into it.

I have a Delorme PN-40 and love it. It comes with all the maps for North America. I can hook it right up to my computer and down load way-points and tracks. You can get Aerial Imagery from their web site at a cost but I got so much down load for free then I got mine. Don't know if they still offer that or not. I also have a etrex but like the Delorme a little better. The etrex don't come with maps and they cost about $100.00 so the Delorme to me is a better deal. They have the PN-60 on sale right now on their web site for 399.99. I think I payed right around 150.00 from walmart for the PN-40. Hope this helps. Here is their web address.

I also have the delorme but the pn-20 version. I love it very easy to use and a decent size screen. Check cabelas web site in either the bargin cave or there handheld gps units, gander mt. the same thing. Hope it helps.

Thanks guys, I settled on the pn 60, with the little communicator bug thing. Can't remember the name now, but thats the one Im getting. Now the big question, can I p.m. you when i get it and cant figure the damn thing out?

I think you will be happy with the PN-60. Their topo maps are great.

I have nuvi 500 and love it. Big color screen easy to use with gloves or not. Track back loaded topo maps.

Hey Gump , I was considering getting a 500 . Are the topo maps ( TRUE ) USGS topos or Garmins version of a topo ? The maps look kinda funny in most of the pictures in adds that I see .
