Went out for a camping/riding wekend. I got about 14 miles on when we came up on 2 slow movers, so I pulled over to let them get some distance when my quad shut off. Now it just cranks and doesn't even try to fire. Tried it a few more times over the next 2 days with no luck. Everything lights up, fuel pump runs...I'm stumped. It is at the dealer now...luckily the extended warranty is still good. So I called to see what the verdict was, and they said they were gonna "try" the coil pack after it gets here from being ordered. Try??? Aren't you supposed to diagnose before fixing? I don't know if they even checked for power TO the coil. I just don't trust other mechanics. And they don't like me because I am one, also. Did you ever notice how pissey they become when they talk to someone who knows more than they do? Anywho... just wondering if anyone has had anything like this happen. No warnings at all, just died.

I have not had any problems with my machine but I do know how you feel about not trusting anyone to work on your stuff. I went to my dealer and asked what scanner they use to plug into the diagnotic port on the head light pod to read the data and codes and they didn't know anything about it. I think alot of people are just plain LAZY. The kids they hire at my work will get a car in with a check engine light on and ask me whats wrong with it cause they dont want to spend the time to diagnois it. They just like to replace parts until its repaired. Just my opinion. I don't trust anyone to work on my stuff.

My Teryx did the same thing when I put in an aftermarket Dynatech CDI box . I got it home , put the stock one back in and fired it right up . Dynatech reprogramed it for free , but getting stuck in the woods miles from the truck SUCKS .

Even when I still had a warranty, I would only take it to them so I could get parts replaced. I did my own service on it. The people at the dealership know that I know more about the machine than they do and thats fine with them. Most of the dealership mechanics are kids working there anyways. I think like Rudz stated, most people are just lazy so they get away with it.

Almost can't wait for the warranty to run out!

Update:
Called today. New coil made no change. New computer and it won't crank at all, so the old one is back in. Still have no ideas as of yet.

Tell them to test the stator. Had a buddys Poo 500 doing the same thing and the stator ended up being fried

If its possible, I would take it to another dealer. It sounds like they are just throwing parts at it.

Get it fixed,sell it and buy a freaking Yamaha...
