Was a long time customer at Helsels in Altoona, but time for a change. Nice people, but nice doesn't cut it when service is involved. A dealer is only as good as their service. I will be buying a new RZR, hopefully within the next year, but somewhere else. My last visit was the last straw. Less than disappointed with them...

How's that???

How i REALLY feel??? parental

Service is important no doubt...

You could always try Unlimited Cycle up towards Tyrone...they are now Polaris certified both in sales/service.

I use Martin Marines Sales here towards Johnstown for service..very good.

I would not recommend Highland Harley/Polaris in Somerset..sales OK, service not so OK.

Might be a long haul for you to come to this area, but a good dealer here is Snows in chorica, and they will ship out your parts too. log on to gen3usa, and you can get a discount there.

I made sure my post was more informational than a slam. thumbs

PMs won't be so nice, but they are private which is where those kind of replies SHOULD be.

Ive heard really good things about Snow's.

Had my mothers plow quad serviced at Snows . One of the repares was a new battery . I informed her and my brothers it would need ridden to complete the battery charging . 6 months later on the first snow the battery was DOA . No doubt . our fault . I explained the plow quad situation and they replaced the battery at NO charge . As a thank you , we purchaced a battery Tender so that would'nt happen again . Thanks again Snows thumbs

Update: So I quit here in Altoona(you all can figure out who by location or PM me) since they insisted on charging for unauthorized parts and unauthorized work.

Took it up the mountain, about 8 miles west of Ebensburg to another dealer. I left them a BIG note when it was dropped off as well as personally telling them that ANYTHING outside of warranty IS NOT TO BE DONE and to call me first. Everything went fine. Repairs were done rather quickly. 2 phone calls made and nothing outside of warranty was mentioned. So I drive up, sign the paper....then I get the "the only thing you owe us for....". It was $14 for an oil filter. Mine has less than 300 miles on it not to mention I have 3 new filters on the shelf.

After all the talking about no out of pocket expenses, after leaving the note there, after explaining why I was no longer going to the previous dealer...they STILL did exactly what I said not to do! And then they make me out to be the unreasonable one by saying "its only 14 bucks".
Money is not the issue here, people...honesty is the issue...I thought I was the customer and the dealer is supposed to give the customer what they want, not do as they damn well please! I am getting sick of this crap. BTW, I just helped them sell a new XP 550 Touring edition w/PS to my employer and then they do me like this!

So now 2 dealers service depatments will keep me from ever going back.

Maybe you should trade your Polaris in for a Yamaha and you won't require all that service! No just making fun but sorry to hear that some dealers do this. It's a way they can sell parts and make more money even when you leave a note with specific instructions. Yes I know it's not, shall I say it's not the big issue (the money but the principal and respect they should show). For them it's easier to act innocent or ask for forgiveness then call you asking for permission only to hear you say no or question them on the need.

Thank you for getting my point! So I know its not just me...if I could just get Yamaha to put a twin in the Grizz I just may do that! Then again, its not the machines fault. Dealers do get pissed when they get caught trying to pull a fast one. I am looking to buy a RZR...won't be from 2 places now...HH and MM...

Wildhorse...I hear you..on this subject, and for the Grizzly having a V-Twin

Some of the Yamaha dealers are the same...I have also dealt with the Polaris dealer you mentioned..not real happy with them as well...

I would highly recommend Bently's Sales/Service, RT22 in Murrysville, PA...Yamaha/Polaris...multi-dealer. There sales/service staff is really good...I just wish they were closer.

UPDATE:

Well second dealer fix and the water pump is leaking AGAIN! Is there no Polaris dealer that can fix a freaking water pump?

As far as Martin Marine goes, don't go and get in my face to brag up your mechanic BEFORE you see if the repair holds up...must have been absent on WATER PUMP day at the Polaris school. You all would have been appauled if you seen the way i was talked to. Better to look foolish.... Karma is a beeotch...

I will fix it out of my own pocket and do the work myself...at least I know it will be done right....

Tired of this BS.....no more extended warranties for me. Tired of trusting inept mechanics!

When you pay a dealer whatever the hourly rate is for labor is the mechanic supposed to be a certified, whatever brand, mechanic? This is what I been wondering. If not why does the whatever brand expect you to go get your service work done at a certified whatever brand mechanic? LOL!! Why can't I just take whatever brand machine I have to whatever mechanic I want to get the warranty work done or any other work I want done? How does a whatever brand dealer tell you its OK to go up 2 sizes in tires as long as you have them mounted there when they know it voids the warranty. Then later tell you that bushings and bearings wearing is because of the oversize tires they mounted. LOL!! I will never buy new agian, nor will I deal with a dealer to get work done. The whole dealer thing is a scam as far I know! LOL!! DEALERS SUCK EGGS!!

I have two private motorcycle/atv shops i deal with and i havent had trouble with either...i dont do dealers. I worked at a ford dealer i see what went on("genuine ford parts" came from the local advance auto). Im sure motorsports are no different
Theses private shops repair is their livelyhood. The dealers its a side line somthing they have to offer as per their franchise agreement
fyi
MYERS PERFORMANCE & BIG COUNTRY both are in johnstown and are very busy
(for obvious reasons) 1 or 2 man shops
both guys have their hands in racing too
