Didn't know where else to post this. FYI, i am getting ready to replace ends on the wifes Sportsman, which are getting pretty bad. I Then realized that mine has over 2000 miles and are still tight.So, I believe my secret lube that I've used on them since new is apparently working.
I had a can of Chain Wax (gold can) that I used on her street bike chain and the Scrammy. I simply used the the nozzle tube and get it inside the boot, being careful not to tear the boot. An ice pick or an awl works great. And then just squirt a good amount in there. Definitely should be done when new, before any water gets in there. Don't know how effective it will be after the fact.
That stuff just sticks like crazy to chains, so I imagine it does the same inside the boot on all the metal parts.

I will have to try it. I have not had any problem with my 07 700 but I have replaced both on my wifes 03 400.

I go through tie rod ends, ball joints, bearings, and bushings almost every 500 miles. I will definately try this. However with my type of riding water is sure to get in there.

Once the metal is coated, water will not get through this stuff.

I have always used Green Grease, it is synthetic and is designed for marine applications to avoid washout.

The downside of grease is that you can only get it on the outside of the parts and hope for the best. There are no grooves inside the ends for the grease to fill like on car ball joints. The ChainWax is pretty liquidy going in so it can coat in places the grease can't reach. I use the Lucas red synthetic for the greasable parts on all my machines and vehicles.
