Opening Day Dunmore, PA - Overall the trails are rocky, but what do you expect riding in the Coal Country Mountains of PA? My knees are on fire from 6-7hrs of pounding! Some Green trails are more like Blues - could prove a challenge for young or beginner riders. There are lots of fun creek crossings and and muddy spring run off areas. Cool Landmarks like The Reservoir, The Tunnel, Burned out Bus, and "Top of the World" 360° views! There seems to be a lot of future trail ops out there as well. Check out the Ride Report link below.

Nice pictures and review. Bummer its so rocky but I guess if I can ride Michaux State Park I can ride anywhere! My biggest disappointment is that it sounds like my daughter who is 9 won't be able to ride there on a 90cc.

Man, I would have loved to be able to have gone. I wont be able to get out riding atleast until some time in june. Are all trails oneway like the old park? Is it bigger than the old park?

There is a beginner's area of trails at the head of the system. Tony said he is going to be working on getting that more kid friendly. No gravel pit though, which was great for the kids (and adults!).

Maybe for the wife, but not me!

There are a lot of tight two way trails - take caution as there were a lot of young guns out there who weren't. The one way trails tended to be more technical and rocky. I think this park is bigger, but the trail map won't reflect it yet. There are a ton of unmapped trails out there to be explored and added. The natural beauty of this area outweighs the last location as well.

Glad to hear opening day went well. I was up there from 2 to about 4 just checking the place out. There was a poker run in Hallstead in the morning so I could not put a full day in. I am going to try and make it next weekend to try out all of the trails. The hard part about the green trails is that you have to ride over some rocky stuff but then the trail seems to flatten out and you can really rip it. The beginner area is OK for the 90 but the trails are a bit long and your little guy might get bored/tired before you get back to the trailhead. I wouldn't let reports about the rocky sections discourage you from bringing him.

I had hoped someone would tell us like it is..sounds good to us.

Where is the entrance, in that industrial park?

We're planning for this Sat.....be on the lookout for 5 Honda 3 wheelers, 3 250SX's and two 200 big reds.....yeah we're old school dancing and old ourselves.....

Nothin wrong with old school!

Parking is in the upper lot to the right of NA Warhorse powersports, but sign-in is inside NAWH.
You can swing into the lower lot of NAWH, sign everyone in, then park in the upper lot.

was there on Thursday. Very nice place, met the owners, they were very friendly and helpful. The trails were nice, lots of rocks. the view were also great. Only had 1 small mud pit, they are supposed to make more. Also would be nice if they had more straight runs for going fast. Overall an very nice place and once they add to the trails it will be even better.

Yep, we went there Sat. I agree with the folks being very nice.
Now we enjoyed it and probably would go again. Now we ride trikes, so at a slight disadvantage suspension wise, but i think better weight wise...lighter than a quad. I could horse it out of the mud easier.
We got a map and out we went. Now there was a slight issue, the map did not match the markers number wise. The green trails were supposed to be the easier one, blue intermediate and then red/orange expert. We got lost real easy. And we actually started off on a blue trail rather than green. How?, we must have missed the green somehow. Then actually got on a few of the xpert ones also. Same going back. We took the blue (the way home) markers, because there were no green in sight. We spent 5 hours out there, and at least one and a half hours trying to get back in. The map key orientation had north pointed wrong too, so trying to figure out what intersection you are on was really tough. A few had place markers that told you the spot you were going to, but if you were out on the trail itself, it was disorienting to get your bearing as a newbie. We got to see the bus, top of the world, but did not get to the tunnel. We ended up coming home on the blue as it was the only one we could find that said home on them. I understand talking to the folks after that they had changed the markers but not the map. So perhaps with better markers and mapping, I'm will be easier.

Don't get me wrong, we had fun, ate a lot of mud, and saw rocks in our sleep. All in all a good day despite wandering around.

I just found out that Lost Trails moved to this location last week. Crazy thing is, I've been riding this mountain about 4+ years now. It's nice to know that this land won't be bought up for some type of housing or business construction.
Sooo ... does anyone actually know where the park ends? I heard by the 2nd reservoir. A bunch of my friends camp out up there sometimes as well. I'm wondering how the owners will control all the ATV riders since so many people been riding there free for so long. And what about all the Jeeps/trucks that venture through out?

Welcome to ATVingPa.com X5GEE.
Since you say "its nice to know that the land won't be bought up for some type of housing or business construction". I would think that yourself and everyone would do the right thing and pay to play there. Just because people rode there for years does not make it right to continue to ride there without paying. It most likely was not cheap to go through all of the legal B.S. to turn the land into an ATV park. Why don't you visit their web site Lost Trails and buy a membership so that you have no worries. I am sure they have a plan on how to deal with trespassers.
While riding inside the park the boundrys are clearly marked so that no riders ride on the connecting propertys. I have rode in the park and I think its awesome that because of The Lost Trails that area is open to legal ATV riding. I am not trying to be an @sshole I am just saying there are not many areas that are open for legal riding so I would hope that everyone would follow the rules.

I agree...it will only take a few to mess a good thing up...and with all the hard work that was put into it would be a shame to have guys screw it up for all the legals riders riding in the park...MUDDIE
