Renovo ATV Cruise for a Cure
Saturday, June 11, 2011 from 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM (ET)

This year with help from Western Clinton County Sportsmen’s Association, Central Mountains ATV Association, Representative Mike Hanna’s office, DCNR, The American Cancer Society, Penn Dot, and the Renovo community the Bucktail Medical Center Relay for Life Team is planning an ATV ride in hopes to make it an annual event to support cancer survivors and honor those who have lost their battles. This ride will start in Renovo, PA at the Heritage Park lot traveling to the “Bloody Skillet” parking lot on DeHaas Road and back - an estimated 50 mile jaunt. For this day we hope to have local vendors, organizations, and businesses setting up stands and making it a community event supporting those dealing with cancer.

I know its for a good cause, but $50??? Thats gonna scare off more people than attract. Heck, gonna have $100 in gas just hauling the quads up and back!

Does seem a bit steep. What I found more interesting is the fact that the ride would be connecting WS and BS which is something riders have been pushing for - an official connector between these two state systems!

could be an interesting riding going from WS to BS. you would have to rice through town some what. since you need to cross the river. the $50 fee to is just a bit steep. keep us informed of the details.

I wish I could make it but I'm working that weekend already. $50 does "sound" steep but my mom passed away on 3/31 from liver cancer. I would pay $50 to have her back today on Mothers Day if that meant finding a cure for cancer.

Sorry snowdog. I didn't mean it in a negative way, just that $20 would be easier on the wallet and would attract more riders, thus increasing the total revenue. Then leave it up to the individual to donate more, if interested...thats all.

I lost my grandma to cancer when I was 6. I am the youngest, so the only memories I have of here is through old home movies and pics. I would also give $50 just to have one day with her.

Not for me, they did one of these in dayton on paved roads, and it only lasted a couple years that i know of.

Yo I'm not going to disagree with the route of the ride, but its not even about that its about showing support and being part of something larger than yourself! I'm going and I don't care what route it takes. For all you speculaters, I talked to one of the locals from Renovo at work today and he thinks the roads are dirt not paved.
Besides when your done riding the 50 miles you could still go ride Whiskey Springs or Bloody Skillet or you could spend the night and ride the next day at either place. Whiskey Springs and Bloody Skillet are FREE! Some people don't have a problem paying $35 for a pay to play place but $50 is to much to show some support and have the opportunity to ride 2 of the states finest FREE areas to ride. Bring a camper, Whiskey Springs has a camping area if you have a camper or toy hualer. I'm excited to see RENOVO even doing this, FREAKing awesome!!! I hope this is a sign of things to come.

Chris.... ... I could'nt have said it better . It's a fund raiser. The offer to ride such a beautiful area , is just ICING on the cake . My work schedule probably won't allow it , but you can bet if possible I will be there.

It's not the cost of the ride so much (although the cost of diesel on a 5 hr trip is a consideration). It's more frustation with the DCNR not allowing trail riding through the "pristine, hallowed parkland" even for a cancer fund raiser. And now we hear DCNR is taking a cut of the proceeds!!??? A guided dusty road tour is just not for me. But in no way am I demeaning the significance of this fundraiser as I hope it is hugely successful. I do support a connector between WS and BS on trails or even on dusty ol' roads. It would be fun to run from SSRT to WS- maybe someday

HOW THE HECK DID I GET THROUGH ALL THAT WITH NO LOL's? LOL!!! BAH HA HA HA HA!!! This whole Renovo thing took me by surprise. I realy hope they get a good turn out but the cost and the route will more than likely put a hurt'n on the turn out. What a shame. I'm still going though, I got no excuse, its with'n 50mins of my house.

Hello everyone, I am new to the site and I was reading all your posts about the Relay for Life ATV Run in Renovo. Just for the ones that do not know the area, it is going to be a REALLY nice ride. You will start out in Renovo over behind Railroad tracks which is called the SHOPS. From there you will ride through town and across the bridge and up 144. You are only on the hard top for few miles then you hit dirt road. The road is a little steep but once you get on top it is beautiful. You should be able to see the town of Renovo from up there. You will then go across the mountain and stay on dirt roads most of the time. I believe there are a few places that you have to get on the hard top but on a short distance. Yea the price I feel is a little steep but it is for a good cause..... I hope they get a really good turn out for this....And hope to see all you guys and girls there....

Wildhorse and I will more than likely be at the camp that weekend, so it looks like I'll have to try to talk him in to going. $50 is a little steep, especially with fuel prices now. And I have to agree that it's not right for DCNR to get any proceeds from this money! Give us a connection from BS to WS then you can have some proceeds! I can't even imagine being able to ride from BS to WS...that would be some riding, that's for sure!

The route from what I see is mostly dirt roads. The cause is worth the price and an example of a positive impact ATV riders can have. It might also help push the connector through. I emailed the contact with a few questions. Once I get an answer back, I plan to attend. It will be a unique ride for a good cause.
