Hey guys,

We are getting ready to plan our first trip to the HM trails in the July or August time frame and I could use some suggestions from anyone who has been there. I am looking for recomendations on which trail to ride and where to stay. We will have 2 full days of riding. I have a 4 seater UTV and will have my 2 young daughters with me so I am looking for UTV friendly and ver scenic trails but not so easy that I get bored. On my own I like to tackle the toughest trails I can find but with the kids I just want a great ride with a little challenge and excellent sights. Where should we go and where should we stay? I am coming from south eastern PA by the way. Thanks!

I recomend staying at Ashland Resort . There you can ride 3 diff. trail systems if you want , all have beautiful scenery. Indian ridge , pinnicle creek and now pocahantas all can be ridden from ashland resort. It is a family friendly camp ground and very safe!

If I were to go again it would be Ashland Resort also .

If you would like to hook up with locals as guides , these guys are always willing to help fellow riders .

We took a group of 15 to Gilbert & rode rockhouse for 3 days. plenty of variety of trails there. I saw many 4 seater rzrs there so I know they will fit. We stayed at Twin Hollow campground cabins. We loved the trails & campground. Our next trip will be to Ashland though. I have heard many great things about that resort.

Just did a trip there last weekend and we stayed at a hotel about a half hour away from the Ashland resort. But Ashland is where we got our permits and anything else we needed. It was a very nice resort. A nice store and a little gas station, lots of supplys and the cabins are really nice. We met a couple from Indiana PA and they let us look in their cabin, very nice. The only problem is, they are usually booked up, just an fyi. We rode Indian ridge, because we were only riding one day, but it was a very nice trail system. Easy trails and some that were more challenging. Not a whole lot of mud, some but none was bad enough to need winching. All in all a nice trail system and a great resort. They have a free wash station too. I also have a 4 seater that I plan on taking next time. I took my 4 wheeler this time but rode with two side by sides and they never had any trouble. I think we are going to try going back down first or second weekend in July. I would like to ride Pinnacle creek, i've been told it's a favorite of a lot of people. But seeing as I'm the only one in our group with snorkles we will have to see how much rain is forcasted for that time.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I am going to do Ashland. Right now it's looking like mid July but not sure yet. As mentioned above it might also depend on availability. Thanks again!

OK guys, so another question. I am curious to hear from people who have been to Gilbert and ridden Rockhouse as well as the Ashland area and the trails that can be ridden to see what you think and which was your favorite. Ashland seems very nice and has 3 trail systems accessable. The only thing that keeps making me interested in gilbert is since I will have my wife and kids they may like having a town to ride into for dinner, etc. It seems like the town of Gilbert and Mann each have a few restaurants etc etc. Also looks like some great views from the rockhouse system. All of that said I posted a similar question on a WV forum and most choose the Ashland area but no real reason. Based on what I have posted what do you guys think? We will be heading down July 19th through the 22nd byt the way. Thanks!
