I'm game....I'm off every Tuesday & Wednesday. I just told my daughter that I want to make it up to the ANF a couple times this year. I made it up there last year twice, once for the winter ride and once with her. Just let me know when..... dancing

looking at a day on the week starting the 9th of july, i can still turn any of those week days in, and wife is on vacation that week . tues or wen would work, and it will give me time to get the scrambler back to normal.

Already have 2 saturdays off for weddings the 7th and 14th, thinkin i might be at the limit, lol

Might be able to get a couple from work also.

ANF is still open this week. I'm off Wednesday or Thursday if anyone is interested let me know... I haven't made it up there this year and figured I might make a last ditch effort.

See if you can get the current status of timberline. I won't rejoin ANF until I can run the whole thing. I felt uniformed that the "D" section was not going to be opened all season this year.

This message was posted all season without info about when it was going to re-open:

The west side of the D Loop (from FR 339 to FR 113) will remain closed due to maintenance work on that section of the trail.

I don't get it? They claim BIG $$/mile to work on trails, why not get some inmates out of their cell, give them some picks and shovels, or have the gas and log companies that turn all the "trails" into roads anyhow !

The trail maintanence issue is an ongoing joke. There are several riding clubs that would be willing to assist or even take this over completely. However, if ya want to run a chainsaw in the state forest, they require you to attend their class. Most likely taught by someone with very limited skill themselves. For that matter, they could experiment by offering some Saturday in the future as a trail mtc. day. See how many people show up to help and then go from there. But then again, it seems as if they'd rather just write fines and puff their chest out so that you can see that they have a badge. Now ya got me started ...

The stsate prison in Marienville is a level 5 institution. Inmates in Pa. must be a level 2(MC) (Minimum security/Community work program) custody level to work outside the fence. Since Mercer is the closest Level 2 prison I will volunteer to help supervise them...LOL

I remember years ago Ray Merriman, from ATV Traction, was in the midst of getting a deal set up to help with trail maintenance in exchange for a "member only day" during the closed season. I think it was our winter ride in 2008 that the trails were actually closed but somehow he got them to open up just for us to have our winter ride....

If we could only get through that thick layer of red tape, we could really do something with the trails at ANF. I'd show up to help, even if it meant calling in sick at my job. After all, it is OUR sport and if we aren't willing to give something back, what can we expect from the state?
