What type of riding are you interested in doing? Also look on the commander forum to pick up alot of info.
They are nice multi purpose machines. Not the greatest utility machine or the greatest pure sport machine but they do each one well.
It's really depends on the riding you do the most.

I almost bought a commander, I just couldnt justify the cost of repairs sgould it have one. I also know the suspension is not the most sturdy for the abuse it can be put through in Pa. which is sad based on the iconic nature of the Can Am brand. This is all personal opinion, but we wound up with a RZR. My wife loves it, it is easy to fix, you dont have to be a Rhodes Scholar to do it, and parts are cheaper. We havent had to do any huge repirs, in fact none yet but I researched avergae costs per reapiar on both Polaris and Can Am sites and the Polaris was consistently less. So what are you in for? The Can Am was a nicer smoother ride, but not by a landslide, and the Can Am definitely felt more like a jeep type vehicle, with some really cool plstic and interior features. The Rzr is a Willy's, rides better though. We do have a Can Am quad, 500 2up and the repair bills on that are not cheap either, complared to the Kawi Kymco and many Honda 3 wheelers I have.
The Can Am definitely has a cool factor and is comfy. The Rzr is cool too but not as far out, and is cheaper in my opinion. Unless you ask Myleslong.

Don't go buy what you read in a magazine or online tests.Ask owners ,check out forums.A friend of mine owns one and we ride some pretty rough terrain. There was some problems with earlier models. They have since been fixed. No mechanical problems with his.Just make sure the recall has been done for fire prevention.Only complaint I have are the nets and seat belts. Not that I would remove them.Just lke to see better quality.Only other down fall compared to a regular RZR is width.Little tight fit with bolsters on trails.

Bob if you want reliability buy a rhino or a Honda big red. If you want to compare commander with something it should be against a Ranger xp. Now you have a machine for plowing, hunting and jeep trail riding. If your looking for good trail riding sxs stick with a rzr. If you want performance go with rzr xp, maverick, wildcat.
But like Jays stated don't just go by magazines. They write for who sponsors them. Talk to people who actually drive there machines in the real world. I've had 3 rzr's and trust me I don't baby them. So far only minor repairs.

Wife's dad has a Polaris Ranger 800 and I love driving that. Maybe not the fastest thing but rides awesome over rocky trails and has gone anywhere I have pointed it at so far. LOL!! It is pretty quick though, I just haven't really got into it with it. It's the her dads toy. LOL!!

I have nothing but good things to say about any of my polaris atv's. I've owned them all, and I just sold my grizzly, 'nuff said! But everyone rides with a different purpose. Hopefully the input from this site will help you out.

Problem with a Rhino it is old technology. You are making a big investment.Buy the best you can.Newer machines are alot nicer.Every year they just get better.Yamaha has fallen behind in the SxS category.
