As soon as they post the link for event registration I will let you know about it. I did talk to Wayne (organizer) and confirmed the date and that they are holding the event this year.

Myles tha would be a great ride to take the kids on. It's real laid back and easy. Plus it's for a great cause

Same. I wanted to go on the 1st annual but no one in my group wanted to pay the fee. We travel thru Renovo heading to the cabin in Tamarack, and have dined at those fine establishments (hehe) many a time, so I always look forward to going back there again.

That's a week before my B-day .. would like to make it this year.

The ride this year will be a different route, Here is their Facebook page.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/renovoatvcruiseforacure/?ref=ts&fref=ts

The Cruise For A Cure committee met last Thursday to begin its regular schedule of sessions. The ride this year will be June 8th. The proposed route will be different from the past two years. We will have that finalized this week. The plan is to leave from Heritage Park, head up Boone Road, drive to Cross Fork and return to Renovo. The ride will include a stop at Quiet Oaks Campground. We will be updating ride information here. Registration will be open soon on the website.

I wonder how they are going to do that. I have a camp off of Boone rd and it is gated off down towards town. I understand that the fellow that owns that isn't the most pleasant man to deal with.

I wish he would just keep it open all the time. I still don't understand how he is able to block off a state forest road.

Just have to keep an eye out when they post the map route. I don't really know the area at all except for going to the state trails and the Renovo ride, but the new proposed route is interesting.

Tickets already ordered for us. I think if the early ones sell out they will shift some of the regular ones over. Even $35 is a good deal, usually you have to buy a shirt, they are including one and a meal.
Trust me, you will be fed well

I have done this ride and it is worth it. This year the route will be totally different. Rich sent me a preliminary map of the route. He also mentioned that there will be "something for the mudders"

Oh last year they had 149 people attend. First year was only 54. It would be a good guess it will sell out or be close this year.

We got our tickets and are ready to roll!! Mike, can you send me the preliminary map? I heard its going up Boone road this year. We will go right past our camp and my 10 year old can sit there on his quad and watch us all go by.

I wanted to go on this ride on its first year and never could drum up support with our group. Now with WS being closed, its a LOT easier to get them involved since our camp is just outside of Renovo, and this ride offers a chance to cover some trails that rarely get ridden.

I don't know if they wanted me to share it, the final map will be posted shortly. It is going up Boone Rd with a stop at the Quiet Oaks campground. Endpoint is Cross Fork.

The owner of the Kettle Creek inn was telling us that the closure isn't final yet. She said there was an article in the paper about it but I can't find it to confirm what she said.

Sounds interesting ! So we may be able to make this a 2 day ride - Sat. @ Renovo and Sun. @ WS !? I've offered to pay the pre-reg. fee for the riders in my group as a further incentive to get them to go. Should have an answer by the weekend. Mike, let me know if you hear anything else.

I have a contact in Renovo (and one of the organizers of the ride) I know he is involved with the AMD problems down there.

I am figuring if Whiskey Springs is not open for the event, I plan to do the event, then drive down to SSRT, set up camp and ride there. Then maybe hit the Skillet on Sunday.

The map of the route is now online It is not a great copy, but they will be uploading a better copy. It is slightly different then the proposed map I was sent. The route will be about 50 miles.

Do you know if the one part of the route off of sandy run rd is running the powerlines?

I drew the route on my mapping program and according to that there is only a very small section of the route that uses Sandy Run Rd. (Wgere Boone Rd goes into Paddy Lane) There is a section in the lower part that runs the power line (the loop from Boone Rd to Renovo View Rd)

Here is the route with the "Openstreets" view which names the roads used.

Do they only sell so many tickets?

Looks like they are almost sold out if that is the case.

They have a cap of operators & passengers of 249. The past two years it did not fill up (only 54 first year, 149 last year) That was a requirement to impose a cap, I forget offhand if it was DCNR that required it or something else. With relays going out at a pace, they have to allow enough time for everyone to get back.

They still have quite a few tickets left, but it is selling faster this year then last year.

Tomorrow is the last day to purchase discounted tickets for this event. So far they have sold more then last year and there are plenty left.
They will be accepting registrations that day as well.

They are not calling for rain on Saturday. But some rain Friday so that means no dust

Any idea how many atv's or riders there Sat.?? Guessing 140 / 155 machines apprx.?? maybe I am way off on the numbers?? I think some may have back out because of little "question" on the weather/shower possiblilty issue. Turned out to be a pretty good day after all. Little drizzy Sat.,no big deal,, much better wet ( from Thurs, Friday rains ) then the dry conditions. Dust would have been a little wicked IMO. We were in group 4 which was the last ride out, they were tentively planning two more groups from what I was told and per the board sign up sheets. I think they added the few "five and sixers" to four??? which was no problem. tons of machines on that ride.. Was kinda thinking I would run into other guys that post here but did not.Did not know anybody,, ( except my wife,,and that does not count, LOL )but did meet some nice atv'ers, Good little ride AND for a good cause. IMO.. Surprized on the number of RZR's and other S x S's that were there too. Organized pretty well from what I saw. Not sure who is totally in charge,, hats off to them. Would take a lot of hours planning, organizing, and staff / people to put this ride on.
Anybody hit Whiskey Springs??,, we did the balance of Sat until seven/seven thirty.. Very few riders at WS.Sat.,, Sunday morning a differnt story.. No problem getting around WS ( been there before ), but not marked to great IMO.. Maybe just me?? and getting blind and did not see trail markers..Yickes,,, Or maybe no DCNR trail maintance because of the possibilty of closing??? Who knows,, but glad it is opened for now,, YAHOO !! Fuzzy

I was also in group 4. They had just over 200 operators/passengers registered before the ride. I wanted to buy a flag to honor my uncle but they were sold out. The ride went really well and the little bit of drizzle was no big deal. I liked the new route they had, more trails and scenic views. The stop at the campground was good as well. I would think some people did cancel out due to the predicted rain. The meal they served was a belly full, wow. We had planned to hit Whiskey Springs after, but it was like 3:30pm when we were all done and we had to drive back to SSRT where we set up camp. We came back and just rode SSRT the rest of the day. If we were done sooner, I would have rode Whiskey Springs since it will be closing soon for a few years.

Great pics Mike. Looks like we got "busted" however,,LOL,,, pic number 0180 is my wife standing beside her redish/burgandy Sportsman 550 EPS with the VIP fairing chatting to some female. I am kinda bent over talking to some guy also,, (the old grey hair dude with green shirt.) We rode WS Sat. later in the day only because we had a room KKI Fri. and Sat. We almost went over to SSRT and BS on Sunday but did not. Maybe we will cross paths this year somewhere again?? fuzzy

That "female" your referring to is my girlfriend Michelle. My machine is the red one just in front of hers. I think I also chatted with you and your wife too. My machine also has an SSRT corporate plate on the front. We were camping at SSRT so we did not go to WS after the ride, it was like 3:30pm by then, if we were done sooner I would have, I wanted to since it will be closing soon.

I am sure we will cross paths, there is always the chicken BBQ event at SSRT next month.

Good press from the Lock Haven Express:

A huge APPLAUSE to those who made the third annual Renovo ATV Cruise For A Cure a success. This year's event held on June 8, marked increased participation, increased sponsorship, a different route and memory flags. The weather was a little wet to start but what a great finish. People from across the state joined together to raise $4,930 in funds for the Bucktail Medical Center Relay for Life Team with those funds going to the American Cancer Society.

The BMC Relay for Life Team has some great partners without which the event could not take place. Thank you to Central Mountains ATV Association; Motorcyclist Association; Renovo Fire Department; Heritage Park; Renovo Borough and Police Department; Tom Charles; DCNR; PennDOT; Rep. Mike Hanna and staff; Jim Watson, Clinton County GIS; Frank and Sue Mills; Quiet Oaks Campground; Boy Scout Troop 137; Renovo Elementary sixth grade students and teachers; Bucktail Medical Center.

This year saw a large increase in sponsorship. Our sponsors helped cover general expenses, cost of t-shirts and provide some great food. A special thank you to:

Mountain View Pharmacy, sponsored in memory of Christobel Lee Haulman; Renovo Elks BPOE 334, sponsored in memory of Karen Dwyer-Jones; Casper's Custom Designs; Vintage Rebel Coffee & Design; Western Clinton County Sportsman's Association; Dominion; Chad & Devora Morton; American Legion Post 442, sponsored in honor of: all Veterans; Sons of Italy Lodge 149; AFSCME 13; Bonner's; Scoot's, in memory of Harold A. LaVanture; Bob McCormick Ford; Smith's Excavating; Dorothy & Henry Sorgen; Brenda Young; Jim Verost; Audrey Boers; Dewayne Kimmel; Wayne Yahn; Jack Bruno; Leroy Hake; Paul Bruggman; Jeffrey Selvage; Puff N- Snuff. We can't thank them enough for the countless hours of help and support.
