Ok being a NEWB I have a few questions about riding on state land.

1. It says to follow all manufacture's warnings. With that if I have a passenger and my ATV says no passengers will they fine or kick me out?

2. My cousin has an aftermarket exhaust. He has the spark arrestor installed in it but he's not sure the db level. Same thing if its over db level would he be fined or kicked out?

Just looking for anyone who has experience in these areas. Thanks for your time!

The riding double usually is not a problem unless your riding double and doing unsafe types of stuff. I run a dual Muzzy exhaust on my RZR4 and have never had any problems.

Ive never been bothered for anything other than not having a helmet on while in a mud hole..hey..I didn't want my helmet full of mud!!! My Scrambler was pretty loud as well as a lot of other quads...I can't say for sure on the doubled up thing. For the state trails I just follow their rules...if the quad is not a 2-up, I personally would not press my luck...but thats just me. No helmet will get you stopped...I think if have no helmet on you then it is a fine. Its all up to the DCNR officer. Most are nice but there are a few strict ones...they just don't want anyone getting hurt and we can't afford to lose any more riding areas.

Thanks for the input everyone!

I will give it a shot with my son. Obviously I won't be doing anything stupid with him on.

That's good they aren't too strict with the exhaust thing.

I Always wear a helmet. My dad has been in a nursing home for almost 21 years now from hitting his head on a rock in a bad atv accident when I was 7. He was drinking, showing off, and had no helmet on.

Will see what happens if we run into a DCNR officer.

If you want to make the drive up to Altoona some time we can hit the Ramey trails...good days riding especially if we venture over to the Madera trails too. Either way, a real good day to be had. No charge for riding there..just mostly old stripping trails. Non-poker run or u can wait and pay to ride to help fund their volunteer fire company. Another Chambersburg rider and his brother did this years back to ride local (murph) trails...still can ride but lost a lot of ground...thank you very much PA GAME COMMISSION...and hardly anyone even uses it for hunting...

LipCurl knows us...he was the one who came up with his brother...

Was up at Ramey's poker run once about two years ago, and never made it back. Would like to make it up this year.
Some friends of mine went with people that know the area, and said it was a good ride. Also heard about the "murph" trails, but never road them yet. Would like to explore some new areas this year.

Well that's good to know if I ever drive 4ish hours up to ANF (which I have considered maybe doing). Still have yet to find anything on PA DCNR website that says no. Maybe if you know that it's not allowed on State Forest or that they enforce it you could share that info or link to where they state its prohibited.

Call DCNR with your riding double question. They will have your answer. I have talked to them before up at Whiskey Springs and what I had commented with earlier is what was explained to me a few years ago. Things may have changed since then, but he had also explained that they would like to see more usage of the free riding property that the state has set aside for us. They also have a rule with SxS's being 58" wide that was also explained to me that is rarely enforced. I know when Whiskey Springs opens again I will be calling to check on the SxS width cause I have a RZR4 that is over their weight and width requirement for state trails. Better to be safe than sorry.

Not to bust in on your topic but it sorta relates: What is the official width limit for state parks in Pa?

Gates at DCNR trails are set to 58 inches.

DCNR no longer has the no riding double policy, they dropped it I think 2 years ago.
