Cleaning out some old computer parts and old back up drives
to be destroyed had me curious. Found one drive that ran
Netscape way back when it and Internet Explorer was the only
game in town. Bookmarked was at least 12 atv sites from PA,
Ohio, NY, and WV. Of course there all gone. Any one's still
accessable, have little to no traffic. I do check in once and
awhile, but not into muddy podcasts or trailer sales hogging
the posted atv pic area. Meaning no disrespect, but 10 years
or so back you would have at least 50 guys posting away and
having a hard time keeping up with even the important stuff.
Riding was every week at the least. What Happened ?

not sure, but as you say most riding forums have very little traffic. Seems like everyone has gone to manufacturer forums...lots of traffic on those.

I suppose most wish to discuss machines and upgrades vs actually riding venues? I think many would rather just TALK about riding. badidea

Face book Twitter and other sources of friend media have taken over the forums. These were the only way to find out what was going on. Just like news papers and letters in the mail. We are always looking for the new in thing.

Honestly, I just don't get it. I despise those forums. Like I give a crap when someone updates their status cause that are currently taking a dump or something else that only thier "friends" would care about. hard to believe that people are that f'n shallow or self important!

Anyway, my wife uses those forums to pre-screen potential candidates for employment. So, keep it up folks...keep updating your useless profiles with crap...and stay unemployed.

I've considered starting my own social media site called @ss-face.com. It's for all of us that can't stand social media BS.

I miss those days.

Now I find H&M more enjoyable. Even going to venture a little further to Windrock Park in Tenn.

Just my two cents, I think alot of the riding people want to party more than ride anymore. So they have to find a place to ride that has no rules so they do not need to wear a helmet or have any registration and just party and ride without any restrictions. as for me I still ride two to three times a week and still enjoy riding all year round. So social media is where they plan the party/rides. The legal riding areas have rules and most do not want to follow any rules.

Yeah, social media has become the world's whore. Gonorrhea and
syphilis have been replaced by face book and twitter. Just don't
get it.

I sold off the Prairie and Warrior awhile back, but now looking
for something I can haul out to the rifle range. Sure would beat
walking 375 yards to the targets and hauling the steel plates.
Also probably see Fuj in the upcoming weeks. I usually head up to
Erie when the Crappie start hitting on the peninsula. I picked up
an M4 match trigger from him and says he has an Outlaw in his
basement being configured as a retirement project. If he can
build a quad like he can set up an AR-15 platform, should be
something.

This site has been dead for a while. What was the name of those forums that you found on that old computer? I remember being on some and cant remember the names. Facebook is only as bad as you make it. Facebook is where all the riding forums are now. There are some really good groups n there that people are hosting rides every week. Western PA SxS & ATV Riders is a good group. It has over 3000 people in it and someone is always hosting a ride. There is also Western PA ATV Riders. Sounds similar but is a different group. Also Outlaw Offroad Riders. If you don't accept all the people that will cause drama as friends, you wont have any of the Facebook drama. I am only on it for the Riding, ATV and Shooting groups and sites.

I post over on TheATVZone, and besides me with a semi-daily post, there's only one other guy, an admin, that posts regularly. I've been riding regularly since 2009, and it was so different back then - we had a weekly ride section that filed up as the week went on. Now its just as dead as it is here. Sad to see it come to this but we 'dinosaurs' are just not going to change our ways to join some BS website to check for an available ride.

I'm with DD on this one. Oh, and DD ... you may want to check on @ss-face.com, as I think somebody already bought up that domain haha

Clearly I cant tell you guys what to do and I respect your opinions but, what is t hatred towards Facebook? There is so many more riding groups on Facebook now. That is what these forums used to be. Believe me, I am like an old dinosaur too when it comes to Social Media. I don't really get Twitter other than if you want the latest news about sports or something, Twitter has it before it even happens. I only follow Facebook for the riding sites. I remember when this site was booming but those are bygone times. You are depriving yourselves of meeting some cool people and good riding but, to each their own.

Maybe this ?

A few years ago, I was making $$ every single month off of Facebook tools who fell for numerous scams, including the infamous Koobface virus that ran rampant on FB. Not that I miss those days at all, far from it, I enjoyed the extra income, but it shows just how easily the masses can be scammed into these 'Ooops, I fell for it' stories.

Know what would make me change my mind ?? Ditch the stupid FB minutiae of a posters daily life and make a site that caters to the ATV riders, and lets them discuss rides, hardware, quads and SxSs. THEN I will get on board.

Well unfortunately Facebook isn't going anywhere and I like to talk with other riders. I don't click on every stupid story I see on Facebook though so maybe that's why I've been good. These forums are a thing of the past. I can remember when this site was really active. It didn't take long for an answer to a question. Now it may take days or even weeks. People just get tired of waiting and move on. Even me. I haven't checked this site since last fall.
