The place for you to stay would be the potato city country inn located on route 6. The state trails which are easy, smooth trails run right behind it. Between the state trails and the many unmapped trails in the area which you can access right from the inn there is plenty of riding to keep you interested. There will be other riders staying there to socialize with if you wish. They have a restaurant, barbecue grills outside and a fire pit for a bonfire. The owner is very accommodating. You and your son will have a good time riding out of there.

I know this is an old topic but to let everyone know the Potato City Inn closed and will be auctioned off. Several bad winters of no snow caused a lack of business (The ATV trails are not open in the winter in Potter County)

It shouldn't change anything, it is legal to cross route 6 to gain access to the trails and there is a connecting trail to the old inn.

The campground's feature is being able to ride to the trails. I don't think that will change.
I am surprised nobody else took it over, the campground is always busy and there are those who prefer a motel room for riding verses the campground. They only have a few cabins and they are always booked.

Deb's at Cross Fork. There is also a store in Germania that has ice cream and hoagies. You can get fuel at both places.

Mike Good info as always, thanks Mike. My son and I stayed here. Great location. Terrific food, but the place was in need of a major makeover. It was sort of like camping indoors. The first room they put us in had no running water. The room we ended up in had animals living in the ceiling. Both rooms looked like they were from the (I'm being kind here) 1970's . The owner (Ron ) was a nice guy. Shame they couldn't fix the place up and turn a profit. AWSOME location. Ride the trails until you drop and just pull up to your hotel room door when your done. Almost unique.

I have heard the same about the hotel. Several friends stayed there and found it to be in need of major repairs. Since the trails are summer only for ATV, I am sure it hurt them over the years when the winters were lacking snow, therefore, no business.
Its too bad someone couldn't keep it as a hotel, but I imagine the cost for the needed repairs was too much only to have secure business in the summer months. If the ATV trails were open in the winter season that would be a different story.
Now with the announcement of the Northcentral trail initiative, that would have brought them more business, but again, only in the summer.
So for now, the campground is the only option. We have stayed in their cabins and they are nice. The one row of them have showers and bathrooms.

Stickers should be in stock around the start of 2014. Anyone who has stickers ordered will get them as soon as we get them in. Thanks for your patience.
